Course description

An intensive one day course of legal English aimed at anyone who has to deal professionally   with contracts written in English and would like to understand them better. The main objective of the course is to introduce you to the specifics of legal English, develop your knowledge of commonly used legal vocabulary and improve your ability to understand and interpret the often complex language of contracts.
The course consists of four blocks, each dealing with a specific aspect of contractual English. The two introductory blocks focus on basic vocabulary, types of contracts, contract structure and the stages of a contractual relationship. The two following blocks elaborate on commonly used contractual terms, phrases and clauses with a particular focus on their correct usage. Special attention is paid to mistakes and errors commonly made in contract interpretation. The course is highly interactive and uses authentic legal documents accompanied by practical exercises.
