Threshold means a doorstep — for us, a symbol of the path to new possibilities.
We build language courses and training programmes around the real needs of students: their level, goals, age, availability and the professional requirements of their employer. Our aim is not just completed lessons, but meaningful progress, quality guidance and teaching that has continuity.
Threshold was founded in 1995 by Mgr. Jitka Blažková together with a British business partner. The name connects the English language, a relationship with Britain and the Czech dimension linked to the legend of the founding of Prague.
Our goal is consistent, targeted and high-quality language education. We help clients set up courses so that students see progress, HR has the data and information it needs, and teachers can work methodically.

Threshold is an accredited member of EAQUALS, an international non-profit association that sets and verifies high quality standards in language education.
Accreditation is only awarded to organisations that successfully pass a rigorous independent inspection. This does not only assess teaching itself but the school as a whole – from lecturer qualifications and professional development, course planning, progress assessment and methodological leadership, to client communication, administrative processes and ongoing quality management. The inspection is repeated regularly to verify that the school continues to maintain and develop the required standards.
For our corporate clients, EAQUALS accreditation is independent confirmation that language training at Threshold is built on professional processes, measurable goals and systematic quality control. It is not just our own quality promise, but a standard verified by a respected international organisation.
Threshold is currently the only EAQUALS-accredited member in the Czech Republic.
The Association of Language Schools (AJŠ) is a professional association of language schools committed to ensuring that its members provide clients with high-quality and professional language services.
AJŠ was formed in 2015 through the merger of ACERT – the Association of Certified Language Schools – and AJŠA – the Association of Language Schools and Agencies of the Czechia. It is currently the only association bringing together language schools and agencies in the Czechia. Among its objectives is a commitment to introducing an ethical dimension into the business environment of language services. The Member Code of Ethics therefore obliges member schools to act responsibly towards clients, colleagues and other business entities.
The Association of Language Schools is an affiliate member of EAQUALS (Evaluation & Accreditation of Quality in Language Services), an international association of organisations and institutions involved in language education.
In February 2025, Threshold received the highest possible rating of A++ in the independent adult education quality assessment RATEA.
The assessment examines the entire course of a training organisation's work – from needs analysis and programme design, through lecturer quality and course delivery, to evaluation of results and the real impact of training. The process includes an on-site inspection by an independent assessor and verification of client and participant feedback.
The A++ rating confirms that Threshold fully meets the RATEA quality standard and that client and participant satisfaction exceeded 91 %.
For our corporate clients, the RATEA certificate is further independent confirmation that they are working with a verified training partner who systematically manages quality, responds to the specific needs of each company and tracks the results and impact of training. The certificate is valid for three years.
Threshold is a member of the Association of Professional Education – APROV, a professional organisation of adult learning and development providers.
The association promotes quality and professionalisation in the education market, connects educational institutions with the professional community and represents their interests in the development of standards and legislation.
We are an accredited test centre for the internationally recognised Euroexams in general and business English. The exams are practical, communication-focused and oriented towards real-life language use. They test speaking, listening, writing and reading comprehension at six proficiency levels according to the CEFR (A1–C2).
