Private tuition is suitable for adults, children and teenagers who need to adapt learning to their own goals, level and schedule. It works well for students who want to progress faster, are preparing for an exam, need the language for work, or find that group courses do not suit them.

Individual tuition is a 1-on-1 lesson with the teacher and offers the most room for a personal pace and specific goals. Pair and trio tuition suits students of a similar level who want to learn together – for example siblings, friends, colleagues or partners. The main advantages are a significantly lower price per person and more conversational practice.

Yes. If you are not sure whether individual, pair or trio tuition is right for you, send us your goal, language level, student age and schedule. We will recommend the best option. Please note that in most cases we cannot find a classmate for you – if you prefer pair tuition, look around your own circle first.

We most commonly provide English, and also German, Spanish, French, Italian and Czech for foreigners. We can explore less common languages on request, though pricing may differ.

Tuition can be online or in person. Online lessons are flexible and accessible from anywhere. In-person lessons usually take place at the Threshold school in Prague, at your workplace, or at another agreed location. For courses with very specific requirements – for example a particular specialist field – online is often the only practical option.

After you sign up we get in touch to confirm the language, level, goal, preferred times and format. We then recommend a suitable teacher and agree on the schedule.

We match the teacher to the language, student level, learning goal, student age and availability. Children's tuition, business English, exam preparation and conversation each call for a different type of teacher. Beyond professional skills, we also consider personality so that student and teacher are a good fit.

Yes. We tailor lesson content to what the student needs – business English, job interview preparation, school-leaving exams, international language certificates, tutoring, conversation, grammar or everyday travel language.

Yes, if it is set up appropriately for the child's age. For younger children we recommend shorter, more frequent lessons with more games, repetition and active involvement. For older children and teenagers lessons can focus more on school, entrance exams, school-leaving exams or language certificates.

Depending on the package, lessons are 60 or 90 minutes. An individual tuition package typically covers 12 lessons of 60 minutes or 8 lessons of 90 minutes. Shorter lessons often suit children or online tuition; longer ones suit adults and more intensive work.

Once a week is the most common frequency. If you want faster progress or are working towards a specific exam date, a higher intensity of 2–3 times a week may be better. Regularity matters, as does time for independent practice between lessons.

A regular slot is ideal because it helps maintain the rhythm of learning and secures the teacher's time. If you need more flexibility, we can discuss options based on your teacher's availability.

After your order is submitted we will contact you to confirm the details. Only then do we set the specific dates, format and teacher together.

Yes. A planned lesson can be cancelled free of charge at least 24 hours before it starts. For Monday lessons, cancellation must be made by Friday at 16:00. These conditions are stated directly on the private tuition product page.

It means that if tuition is planned at a certain frequency, at least 75 % of the agreed lessons must take place in a given month. This allows the teacher's time to be kept available and ensures continuity of learning. The exact arrangement always depends on the individual agreement.

Standard lesson materials are prepared by the teacher according to the learning goal. If a specific textbook or exam preparation material is recommended, we will advise you when setting up the course. Textbooks are not normally included in the package price.

Yes, if a single lesson is available in our offer you can start with one lesson and decide on a larger package afterwards. A package makes most sense when you want a more systematic approach with guaranteed continuity – and it also works out considerably cheaper per hour.

It depends on your goal. Private tuition is better if you need an individual pace, a specific focus or more flexible scheduling. A group course may be better if you want regular lessons at a lower cost and enjoy working in a group.

Yes. Private tuition can be focused on school-leaving exams, school tests, entrance exams, Cambridge exams or other language certificates, subject to the availability of a suitable teacher. Knowing the student's level, the exam date and above all the type of exam is key.

Not at all. Before lessons start we will help you estimate your level and recommend the right approach. For private tuition you do not need to know the exact level label – what matters more is knowing what you want to be able to do in the language.
