Course description

During the course you will master efficient and polite business communication on the phone and in a written form in both common and stressful situations. The course deals with the cornerstones of telephoning: introducing oneself, formulation of questions, spelling, making and reacting to requests, arranging meetings, etc. You will also learn and practice principal phrases for individual types of business correspondence. The course is based on the communicative approach, using a large number of activities and situations simulating everyday scenarios that may occur in a real-world working environment. You will also participate in creating role plays and case studies based on your own individual needs analysis.

  • to master the vocabulary related to every-day office work (telephoning and business correspondence)
  • to improve communication skills in every-day work situations – focus on speaking and writing

  • to distinguish formal and informal English
  • to make phone calls about work-related issues and cope with situations when you don’t understand or don’t know the necessary word(s)
  • to deal with requests, complaints and orders
  • to apply the basic principles of language diplomacy
